OUR APPROACH

Harmon Counseling exists because relationships and identities don't fit into neat categories, and therapy shouldn't ask them to.

This practice was founded by Ashley Harmon to be a space where partners can bring their whole selves, their families, their communities, their identities, their history, and feel deeply seen and heard.

Ashley meets people with compassion, curiosity, and respect for how hard life can be. Sometimes that means laughter, and sometimes that means tears. By holding your experiences with tenderness and care, she hopes to create a space where you can feel safe enough to be vulnerable, understood enough to be honest, and supported as you work toward meaningful change.

That starts with how every session is run: with warmth, curiosity, and honesty. It also shapes who this practice is built to serve.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Diversity and inclusion, built in — not bolted on

  • Affirming, judgment-free care for the LGBTQIA+ community
  • Open to non-traditional relationships, polyamory, and ethical non-monogamy
  • Kink-aware and comfortable with honest conversations about intimacy
  • Neurodivergence-affirming, including ADHD and autism
  • A culturally sensitive, compassion-focused approach with every client
  • A supportive space for BIPOC folks and people navigating interracial and intercultural relationships

These aren't values we added to a list — they're reflected in who we already work with every day.

ABOUT ASHLEY

Ashley Harmon, LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Clinician · AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (pending) · she/her

I'm a Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC), an AASECT certified sex therapist (pending credentialing), a wife, and a mom to a toddler boy who keeps life joyful, loud, and wonderfully unpredictable (especially during cold and flu season). We also have two dogs and a cat, so our home is rarely quiet, but it is full of love and personality.

Outside of work, I love to travel, read fantasy novels, have long talks in coffee shops, binge-watch TV shows, dance and sing to everything, and whenever life allows it, get outside. Being in nature brings me deep peace. It helps me feel connected to the earth, grounded in myself, and reminded of what matters.

I care deeply about kindness, honesty, connection, and showing up for the people in my life—especially the ones I love. I believe life can be hard and beautiful at the same time, and my own life is no exception. I do my best to make peace with all of it, to stay curious, and to keep showing up for what matters most.

HOW I WORK

Real Conversations…

The way I live my life shapes the way I work. I care about honesty, warmth, and relationships that feel authentic. I want therapy to feel like a place where real conversations happen and where what we talk about can actually connect to your day-to-day life.

Most people are dealing with layers of stress, old patterns, mixed feelings, and complicated relationship dynamics, so we will take the time to sort through what is actually going on. I tend to meet people with compassion, curiosity, and respect for how hard life can be. Sometimes humor becomes part of the process. Other times, there is no shortcut around the discomfort, and we simply have to sit with it.

“Sometimes you just have to sit in the discomfort (or the mud)” is something you'll probably hear me say more than once in a session.

Your One-Stop Relationship Shop

I like to think of myself as a one-stop relationship shop. We can talk about the relationship itself by exploring past hurts, understanding patterns, and working through communication and conflict.

We can explore sex and intimacy by talking about what brings you pleasure, what gets in the way, and how you want intimacy to feel and look.

And when parenting is part of the picture, we can work on that too—exploring parenting styles, navigating disagreements, setting boundaries, and finding ways to stay connected as partners while raising kids.

The one thing I ask you to bring is a willingness to look at yourself, not just the people you're in relationship with. I'm not here to help you change them; I'm here to help you understand patterns, needs, and contributions to your relationships and figure out what you can do differently.

That can be hard work, but it's also where meaningful change begins.

Let's begin.

No pressure, and nothing to figure out first.
